Thanksgiving & Christmas Traditions

THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS? WHAT ARE YOURS?
Traditions are little rituals passed down from generation to generation that helps shape your family by creating a sense of unity, warmth, and closeness!
Thanksgiving Traditions:
1) Place 5 candies in each dinner plate. For every piece of candy, have each person say one thing they are thankful for.
2) Watching the Annual Football Game. Pick teams and cheer each other on.
3) Watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade! Santa always comes at the end and you and your kids can watch for him!
4) Make a wish on the wishbone. This tradition dates back to 332 B.C.
5) Designate a tablecloth for the family to record gratitude's on and have them sign and date it. This can be used each year! Add to the memories and pass it down as an heirloom!
For a Thanksgiving Craft email the counselors and we will get it to you!
Christmas Traditions:
1) Read the Christmas Story from the Bible on Christmas Eve.
2) Collect or make one ornament each year for your children.
3) Have the children make homemade gifts for one another or for other family members.
4) Take a picture each year of each child and hang it on the tree. Picture frame ornaments can be handmade with a few scraps of cardboard and fabric. Be sure to date the pictures and frames!
5) Bake cookies with children. Even small children can roll dough and cut Christmas Cookies!
6) Spend time listening/singing Christmas Carols!!!
